Stephen Nance

Stephen (Steve) Nance, CPA, serves as Vice President at DrillDown Solution, where he plays a leadership role in the firm’s tax department, manages client relationships, and plays a key role in sales and business development. Since joining the firm in 2014, Steve has become known for his honest, educational approach to tax planning—particularly within the dental industry. He works closely with dental practice owners and related businesses across the U.S., helping them forecast liabilities, evaluate options, and implement strategies that align with their unique financial goals. 

Steve focuses on clarity and informed decision-making. He helps clients understand both the benefits and risks of available tax strategies, often uncovering significant savings opportunities. For instance, he recently implemented a plan that will save one client an estimated $80,000+ in taxes—most of it in a single year—while also facilitating retirement contributions. In another case, he helped a new client eliminate more than $2,000 in state penalties from past filing issues. 

Before joining DrillDown, Steve worked as a Corporate Tax Auditor at the Utah State Tax Commission for two years and briefly as a bookkeeper at Franklin Mill. These early roles shaped his practical, problem-solving mindset and commitment to accuracy. 

A licensed CPA in Utah, Steve earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Utah State University and a Master of Accounting from Weber State University. Stephen has spoken at industry events and has presented for organizations such as the Utah Dental Association, Dentalpreneur, Icreda-dental, and others. Steve grew up in Centerville, Utah, and now lives in Orem with his wife, their four children, and their dog. He enjoys skiing, running, boating, hiking, camping, and exploring the outdoors with his family. He attributes his success to God, his wife, his parents, and the many people who have helped shape his career.
